The WRT54G is a relatively standard broadband router from Linksys. It has 802.11g wifi and sports a 4 port 10/100 Mbit switch. It has been a hugely successful product, thanks mostly to the fact that it's an excellent piece of equipment, inexpensive, and has GPL licensed firmware that was improved on by organizations such as Sveasoft. The Sveasoft enhanced firmwares add valuable features such as DHCP reservations, QoS load balancing, unlimited port forwarding, SSH server, SNMP, WDS for large wireless networks and allowing for using AirPort Express as an ethernet bridge, and a plethora of other things.
It is currently in its second revision and there are similar models on the market such as the WRT54GS.
