Troubleshooting Startup

When your computer doesn't start up correctly, there could be many caused. The first step in determining the cause, is to identify where in the start up sequence your computer is failing.

Start up sequence
Select where in the start up sequence your computer fails.
- Power on (Fans start spinning, lights light up)
- Screen turns on (The screen turns on and shows a grey pattern, or flat grey)
- Startup bong
- Start disk found (Happy Mac/Grey apple appears)
- Operating System starts up ("Mac OS 9"/"Mac OS X" and progress bar)
- Desktop appears (The Finder)
- Actually start using the computer (Select this if it freezes after the desktop appears)
