Troubleshooting Power

If your Mac fails to get power (no fans start spinning), or it simply doesn't want to (the power button lights up and then turns off again), there are a few things that can be wrong.

Is the computer getting any power?
- Is the power plug plugged in?
- If it's a laptop, does the battery work? Try removing the battery and running only on the power adapter. Does the ring on the power adapter light up?
- On PowerMac G4s, is the red light on the motherboard lighting up
