Troubleshooting LocalTalk
From Applepedia
LocalTalk is Apple's old cabling standard, compatible with all Macs with a serial port. You usually build a network with AppleTalk boxes, or the cheaper PhoneNet boxes.
There are three sources of bad performance in LocalTalk networks:
- Bad cabling This can be solved simply by making sure all your cables are good.
- Faulty termination Both ends of the network must be terminated! Make sure the terminators are OK!
- Too large network LocalTalk networks can't be too large. If you have many computers, consider a router, or upgrading from technology that wasn't invented in 1986.
