Troubleshooting AppleTalk

AppleTalk is Apple's self-conguring networking protocol. It's largely disused nowadays, since everyone else uses TCP/IP.

Make sure AppleTalk is activated

  • Mac OS X: Network preference page
  • Mac OS 6-7: Chooser
  • Mac OS 7.5-9: AppleTalk control panel

Mac OS X: Make sure AppleTalk browsing is activated

  • Open "Directory Access" in Applications/Utilites.
  • Authenticate, and then make sure that "AppleTalk" is checked.
