Single window mode basically means that your browser will open all kinds of new links in new tabs, instead of new windows.

Some OS X browsers support this natively, with others you will have to use a plugin or extension to set this option.

Contents

Firefox

Firefox supports this function natively, but depending on what version you are using, it might or might not show up in the options menu. If it doesn't, you can turn it on by typing 'about:config' in the address bar. Type the word 'single' In the search box that will shop up, and turn browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs on. It enables some preferences in the Tabbed Browsing section of the Advanced panel in Preferences. Make sure you also set new links from other programs to open in a new tab in the same window.

Camino

You will need Camitools to use Camino in single window mode. Also make sure you set other kinds of links to open in new tabs, in the 'tabs' section of the Camino preferences.
