Like Folding at Home, SETI@Home is a mutli-platform distributed computing project that uses your computer cycles when you're not. It uses these cycles to help calculate something, in SETI's case, it helps filter out the junk noise from space, and tries to pick up on signals that might be intellegent in origin.
