Tips and tricks
[edit]
Exporing
Preview is great at exporting files to other formats. Simply naviage to File > Export (Shift+⌘E) and select a file format!

New files from clipboard
If you have copied an image, you can quickly create a new image file by doing a File > New From Clipboard (⌘+N), and exporting it.

View animated GIFs
Customize the toolbar and add a "play" button, and you can view animated GIFs. For long GIFs, the first time it plays it does it pretty slowly, but after that it's cached and the second viewing is much quicker.

Searches PDFs
If you haven't noticed, Preview can also do live searches of the text content in PDF files.
