What is it?
OneButton FTP is a project with the goal of creating an open source graphical FTP client for Mac OS X (10.3 and above) using the Cocoa framework. OneButton FTP will have a strong emphasis on drag and drop usability and file queuing.
There are a lot of nice graphical FTP clients for OS X out there right now, but none seem to have all the features everyone wants. Specifically, many of the current offerings don't offer a lot in the way of an advanced queuing system. Moreover, most of the good clients are not open source or free software.
OneButton FTP plans to change all this by bringing to the table a graphical FTP client for OS X that is Free Software (licensed under the terms of the GNU GPL) and has all of the nice features that users desire.
Current Progress
OneButton FTP just had its first major release and a minor revision - the current version is 0.1.1. Compared to the previous 'demo' releases, version 0.1.1 brings a new look, several new preferences and features, and localizations for French, Italian, German, Swedish, and Japanese. Although it still lacks some advanced features, we feel that OneButton FTP has grown into a great FTP client. But let us know if there's some feature that you absolutely must see in the program - we're always open to ideas.
And we're not done yet. We're already working on ideas and improvements for the future. The focus for the next minor release is performance improvements in the user interface as well as the back end. For the next major release, we are looking to add advanced features such as FXP support.
Known Issues
All known issues with 0.0.3.1 previously listed here have been corrected in 0.0.4.
