Multiple displays
From Applepedia
The MacOS supports multiple displays beautifully, and has for a very long time. Just add more graphics cards (such as the dual-head Radeon 7000 PCI), and connect monitors, and they'll work right away.

The main monitor
The "main" monitor is the one that the menubar will appear on, and the one where the boot info will show. To switch main monitors, go into the Displays preference pane, go to the Arrange tab, and drag the menubar to the monitor you want to be the main one.

Extending the menubar
Some users find that they would prefer the menubar to extend across both screens, which OS X does not allow. However there is a solution in the form of DejaMenu, which allows access to the menubar as a contextual menu wherever the mouse pointer happens to be.
