The Mac Classic was kind of a budget Mac, returning to the 8 MHz 68000and a Compact Mac case.
To expand the RAM in the Mac Classic, you had to purchase a special RAM Expansion Board, which contained 1 MB of RAM soldered on, and two SIMM slots where you could install 2 MB more RAM.
Holding down Command-Option-X-O on boot, it would start up from an internal boot disk stored in ROM. If you use a program that can show invisible files (such as ResEdit), you can see hidden folders with the names of the Mac developers on the boot disk.
