How do I find Mac software, preferably share/free-ware?
How do I install/uninstall applications?
You're very likely to find apps in either .dmg or compressed archives. If it's the former, just mount it (double click on it) and drag the app anywhere you want (though most use the Applications folder). Now you can unmount and get rid of the dmg. If it's in a compressed archive, simply expand it, stuffit expander should automatically mount the resulting dmg (if there is one) or leave you with a file/folder. Again, drag this app wherever you want and you can get rid of the rest. To uninstall, simply delete the app.
Another case are installers, which guide you through the process and should be fairly self explanatory.
How do I uninstall something from the Services menu?

How do I install Linux software?
Mac OS X will not run Linux apps compiled for linux and/or x86 processors. It does have strong *nix roots (opening up a terminal will give you a bash prompt, for example), and it does have an official X11 implementation.
It can run many of the popular applications on Linux as long as they are compiled for darwin/ppc (there are applications like DarwinPorts and Fink that automate the porting process).
I've run gimp, gaim, xmms, openoffice, KDE, and many others in X11 on Mac OS X. I don't prefer any of these over built-for-OS X applications, but it is kinda neat that it can be done.
