From the page:
- Audacity is a free, easy-to-use audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. You can use Audacity to:
Record live audio. Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs. Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, and WAV sound files. Cut, copy, splice, and mix sounds together. Change the speed or pitch of a recording.
The current official builds don't work well on Intel Macs. There are unofficial builds available, but they tend to be unstable.
SH/SC user Hippieman has warned against using the OS X version of Audacity. He says it's buggy, unnecessarily takes over Audio Units, and can prevent a computer's ability to save MP4 files. [2]
